“Cosmetic surgery, along with a healthy lifestyle, can provide rejuvenation and higher confidence towards one’s overall body image. While there is no magic bullet to treat every problem, there are multiple tools that have helped patients get closer to their goals. Laser-assisted liposuction is one of the tools that can assist in body contouring and skin tightening.”
Dr. Peterson was raised on a farm in southwestern Minnesota and was the first in his family to go to college. He set a personal goal early in his teenage years to attend medical school and to ultimately specialize in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Peterson completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He participated in biochemistry and physiology research projects at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, University of Kuopio in Finland and Petrozavodsk State University in Russia while an undergraduate. He later earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota, prior to entering a five year residency in general surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.
Following his chief residency year, he gained his board certification in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery and worked as a surgeon in Vancouver, Washington before pursuing a fellowship in cosmetic surgery. Dr. Peterson completed his additional training at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City, OK where he trained with Drs. Erik Nuveen and Nathan Miller. His participation in nearly 1,000 procedures during this training honed his skills as a top cosmetic surgeon. He holds additional board certification in facial cosmetic surgery through the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery.
His professional associations include fellowship in the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, associate status with the American College of Surgeons and membership with the Washington State Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
He and his wife Brandy, an oncology nurse, have a four year old son and a one year old daughter and enjoy camping, hiking and travel.
