Baby It’s Cold Outside! 8 Must Have Accessories for the Winter

Winter is here, and the snow is starting to fall. If the wind doesn’t blow you away, it’s really quite beautiful outside. Personally I love NYC in the winter (as long as I am indoors of course).

Central Park has a picturesque white sparkle covering all the trees, benches, and sites. The lights on 5th Avenue are magically bright along with the most creative and dazzling window displays around (have you seen Barneys or Bloomingdales or Saks yet), and who doesn’t love the ice-skating rinks in Central Park, Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park (not to mention the indulgence of hot chocolate after…yum).

Of course I have to admit that I am the biggest and worst freeze baby out there. If it’s not at least 70 to 75 degrees outside, I get a little chilly (no joke I may be cold blooded). However, I cannot escape the frosty season as NYC is my one and only love. All I can do is prepare with my favorite and most fashionable winter essentials…

1. Hats are my number one go-to in the winter. More often than not my hair gets rather frizzy and flat due to the temperature drop, so I LOVE a cute hat to hide the evidence (not to mention keep warm). This season favorites include:

Fur Pom Pom Winter Veil Pull On Hat – BCBG ($68)

I am always a fan of a cute pom-pom, but my favorite part of the hat is the pullover veil (it’s fun, it’s very lady-like and it’s of course warm).

Chunky Ribbed Knit BeanieBCBG ($48)

Anything with ears is a friend of mine. Not to mention that beanies are perfect for not only winter but also fall and early spring.

2. Gloves prevent my fingers from growing numb, and I love them for that. Sadly I lose my gloves almost every time I take a cab, so I am forced to buy new ones on a weekly basis. This season favorites include:

Abby Angora Glove – Club Monaco ($98.50) – I adore the layered look of leather and Angora. They are just so NYC chic, and go with almost any coat (which generally means black for me…It’s a New York thing).

Makayla Shearling Mitten – Club Monaco ($149.50) – Though these gloves do not cover my fingers, they are so soft and cute (plus no finger coverage allows for easier access to cell phone activity, which rarely stops).

3. Scarves are probably my favorite part of winter. Not only are they warm but they are the perfect and easiest accessories to add to even the most boring yet needed for the winter sweaters. This season favorites include:

Perager Pom Scarf – Anthropologie ($78)

Again the pom-poms get me every time. They are so adorable, and they are ridiculously soft around your neck.

Woolly Collar – Anthropologie ($188)

The collar isn’t exactly a scarf, but it is perfectly warm and unique for the NYC winter (not to mention New York Fashion Week this February).

4. Earmuffs are the best for weekends and happy hour nights. Unlike hats they do not mess up your hair, and you don’t have to have a face that goes with earmuffs versus hats (ladies you know what I mean). This season favorites include:

Kitsound Character Print Audio Earmuffs – ASOS ($27.22)

I love cutesy items for grownups. It allows me to feel like a kid while still being able to drink alcohol (best of both worlds). Plus you can listen to music with these babies (yes please).

River Island Buckle Side Earmuffs – ASOS ($32.67)

So warm…that is all!

Happy Holidays!!!
