Why Losing Fat in Certain Areas is So Hard

It’s a problem we see over and over again: someone’s been eating right and exercising well, but they’re still struggling with certain “problem areas.” For men it’s often the stomach and lower back, for women it tends to be the hip, butt, and thighs. Why is it so hard to lose fat in these areas?

The fat that’s stored in these areas is actually physiologically different than fat in other parts of the body. There are two types of fat cells: alpha and beta. Beta cells respond better to the fat-burning process than alpha cells. These common problem areas carry a higher concentration of alpha cells, making them harder to get rid of.

Genetics also play a role. Different people are born with different concentrations of alpha and beta cells in different areas of their body. So if you struggle with love handles, you can probably blame Mom and Dad! This is why some people are able to eat junk food every day and maintain their six pack abs, while others can eat healthy and struggle with their weight.

There are other factors that affect your ability to burn fat as well, such as hormones and lifestyle. Many of these factors are beyond your control, which can make weight loss feel overwhelming and seem unachievable. But don’t give up yet!

Sono Bello’s TriSculpt laser fat removal procedure works by actually removing these fat cells altogether. We can help you overcome your problem areas and conquer diet- and exercise-resistant fat. A Sono Bello procedure, along with a healthy diet and regular exercise, can help you get the body you’ve been dreaming of, regardless of your alpha and beta cells.
